Barcelona.

As I was gone for three weeks and only wrote minimal notes on my iPad, my posts of my time in Spain and Portugal will be short. I have thousands of photos though, which I've spent all day culling, and if a picture speaks a thousand words, then they should suffice.

Arriving in Barcelona was refreshing as it was raining. After sitting through one of the hottest summer's I think I've ever felt (probs just because I've just come through my coldest winter), it was nice to be able to walk somewhere and not be being burnt to a crisp. Although it was still pretty warm. I checked into my hostel, which was pretty much a 24 hour party place with it's own bar. It was pretty crazy walking in there What a first hostel experience. There were 22 people in my room of males and females.
The first night was spent just wandering around Placa de Catalunya, Las Ramblas, Baracalona cathedral, along the wharf and to a shopping centre. I grabbed some dinner on the main street and the had hot chocolate just before bed at Placa Real, where the hostel was. Also met up with Debbie and Gemma, two girls from the Turkey tour, who were staying in the same hostel!
The second day, Nat and I headed to a fashion show that Nat had grabbed tickets too. She'd been in Barca for a few days before I arrived with friends, so she'd scored them some time during then. I felt like a budding fashion designer dressed in denim cut-offs and thongs. It was cool to see, although some of the designs were a bit weird. After we headed to Sagrada Familia, but didn't make it in. The line was huge and the ticket machine was working, so we had to line up for a human to issue tickets. It was too hot waiting in the sun so we headed back into the centre of town. The city is crazy busy. After exploring the city, we grabbed gelato at a small cafe and then hit bed at 2am.
