Poulain and Putain are very different things.

Today was the coldest day thus far. 2 degrees at midday, my hands were freezing in their gloves! I ended up wearing two pairs for some parts of the day.
I didn't have anything planned for today except a bank meeting at 3pm to open an account. So in the morning, I went bed spread hunting. The one that's on my bed at the moment is white and quite boring. It's also a little bit dirty. Not dirty as in yellowing, just a few pen marks, etc. I didn't want anything too expensive, but I ended up at zarahome where there's a sale on. I didn't buy anything though because I want to shop around a little more. Well, I ended up buying a giant wooden key ring for my keys so I don't lose them in my bag. I was debating whether to get a Bordeaux one, but decided that's probably only cool when you're not living in Bordeaux. It would be like having a Penrith keyring (no offence to anyone who does. I might get one when I get home actually).
I've been getting très confused with the conversion rate into euros here. I've been multiplying everything by 2 and then just subtracting a little (it changes every time, whatever seems right at the time). But this is not right! As I discovered when I sat down to make myself a little chart of the conversions. I was so wrong! I ended up making two - one for my wall and one for my wallet.
The bank was fun. Léa came with me and had to translate most of what was going on. But, I've now got a french bank account! I'll switch to using that one as soon as I can pick my card up. Afterwards, Léa and I did some shopping. She took me to a massive book shop, the biggest independent one in Europe. I think I'll explore it tomorrow as I've got nothing planned. Then we just did a bit of clothes shopping. I love how shops don't close here until 7-8pm.

Hotel de Ville

Whilst we were walking, we were just chatting and I asked her if the putain in the kitchen was for making hot chocolate (I thought putain was the brand of the hot choc stuff we have). She gave me this really weird look and then corrected me. "Ahh, c'est poulain, non? Poulain is for the hot chocolate. Putain, it is a prostitute". HAHA. Classic language mistakes.
At home, Leah and I cooked dinner together. Not together together, we were just in the kitchen together. Teriyaki chicken stir fry for the win! Léa was watching tv while we cooked and we all spoke french. It was pretty cool! Leah speaks Japanese as well as she lived there for a year so she's really nice when it comes to me not understanding certain things because she's been through it before too.
