This blog post is for anyone and everyone. But mainly for my mother.
The swelling in my ankle is pretty much gone now and my ankle is the same size as it usually is. That said, I still went for a run today.
I finished off one of my UTS assignments this morning and submitted it four days early! Yay. I am looking into religion in Bordeaux (the one I just submitted was a literature review in which I mainly focussed in on the history of religion in France and Bordeaux, including the many religious wars, narrowing in on the specific reasons as to why there has been a decline in Catholicism in Bordeaux). This one is the basis for a multitude of assignments yet to come. Goody.
After finishing it and feeling pretty good, I decided to go grocery shopping about 1pm. Forgetting it was Sunday, I got to the shops and they were closed :( So I went back home and just grabbed all of my pool stuff and chilled at home until 2:30pm (the pool opens at 3pm on Sundays).
I spent about two hours at the pool, and ended up paying for 10 sessions in advance, just to save the hassle of always having to have money on me when I go. I'm like a royal, I never carry change.
I started off the same as yesterday - just a km of 50m breast, 50m free. And then hopped into the warmer pool for some running. I still find it an amusing concept, but boring as! I got out and ate an apple and then hopped back into the (felt like much) colder pool and just swam a straight 500m free.
On the way home, I smelt like chlorine so much, so I sat at the back of the bus as to not disturb anyone haha. I bought a quiche from the local bakery for dinner and ate that on my walk home.
Once home, I was feeling peckish and decided to open the chocolate bunny I had bought in Switzerland. And low and behold, before I knew it, it was gone... I actually felt like I was going to vomit haha... I thought now would be a good time to get back into running. It's only been four days, but feels like ages. I've been constantly monitoring my ankle since it started swelling/de-swelling and there has been no pain. I've also had a compression bandage on it during the last few days and I've been stretching it and doing short exercises on it just to make sure it doesn't loose all of its strength.
And then the time came. About 7pm, I was feeling ready for a run. I ignored the feeling of desperately needing to vomit, taped it up and left the house. I went for 4.5km, and the whole time, I was keeping a good check on it. But nothing went wrong. I finished, got home and checked it, no different to when I left. All good!
Now I'm about to settle into bed, press play on Mad Men and do some knitting. I'm sure mum will have a million questions about it when we skype tomorrow! Love you mum xx
