Good days.

The last few days have been a blur of good times. I thought I'd be a little bored since finishing uni, but not so far, and not for a little while yet!
Friday morning I spent chilling at home and running. The weather has slowly been getting warmer, and despite it raining quite heavily yesterday, I wore short running today. That night, we had all planned on going out for dinner and then to a pub to celebrate the end of uni, for those of us who've finished, and then also because Lucy had a friend staying with her. The weather was warm enough to wear a singlet out at night. So I did and it was glorious! We actually ended up getting takeaway and eating at Lucy and Candice's house because people wanted to drink. BYO isn't a thing here, you don't take alcohol anywhere. We left their house at about 12:15am and headed to Houses of Parliament and were there until about 1:30am. We then wanted to head onto Apollo bar, but by the time we got there, the bar had closed and everyone was moving onto clubs. The rest of the group went onto la plate club, and me, in my exhaustive from doing nothing state, went to bed haha.

Saturday, I awoke to incredible hot weather. We knew Sunday was going to be hot, but not Saturday. I ended up doing an early mid-morning run. First time wearing a running singlet! When I finished, I got a text from Jason whose just purchased a new volleyball. I ended up meeting him at the park for some fun times. Just before we started playing, another guy came over and asked if he could play with us. We had no idea who he was, but he english was impeccable, so we were just talking and he's pretty much lived everywhere. He's just come back from two years living in Australia. He bought a van for $2000, fitted it out and went travelling and working on farms. When we returned to France, he sold it for $4000. Some profit. He grew up in Nice (French rivera country), but it just chilling in Bordeaux for a while now. He was at the park for a volleyball meet-up that was happening. We played with him for a while until his other friends showed up and Jason and I got hungry. We grabbed baguettes and fig cookies (my fav). At the end of the day, I got a little bit burnt with no sleeves on, so now I have the razor back tank top tan lines. Haha, but it's a nice change to get burnt from the sun than from the cold.
That night, we went to the soccer again to see Bordeaux v. Montpellier. There wasn't as many people there that night, but it was a much better game than the last one and Bordeaux ended up on top 4-2! I even wore a short sleeve shirt and was fine the whole night. It was cool how the game started at 8pm, and the weather was still mid-afternoon 4pm weather (the sun's been setting at about 9:30pm lately).

Sunday (yesterday) was beach day. And it was hot. Sarah's housemate offered to drive Jason, Sarah and I. It was the first time I've been in a car since leaving Australia. It was solo weird, but cool. So nice to see the french country side not from a train. I had my window down for most of the way and as a lot of people were heading to Arcachon, there was traffic the way there. But the speed limit was 130km/h so when there was no traffic, it actually hurt to have my window down haha. We arrived at around 12:30pm and looked for something to eat. Because it was smack bang in the middle of lunch time, all of the restaurants were full. We ended up finding one and eating alfresco on the main street. Afterwards, we headed to the beach for some volleyball and wading in the freezing water. Well, it wasn't freezing, but it was pretty cold. Most of the time was spent lying on the beach soaking up the sun. When we felt a bit too hot, we went for ice cream, or in my case litchi sorbet in a waffle cone. Amazing. It was getting a bit cooler, so we ventured back to the beach and all of us had a snooze on the sand for a good two more hours. We made the mistake of trying to drive home when everyone else was too. So we got stuck in some pretty bad traffic. Instead of trying to beat the traffic, we just got out of it and went to McDonalds. I had my first chicken caesar in more than 3 months! Heading home after, there was still some traffic, but not as bad. When we got home, Jason and I caught the 10:15pm bus home. He'd eaten SO MUCH FOOD at Maccas, he was feeling really bad. So when we got off the bus at 10:30pm, we got changed and went for a 30 min run along the quays and over the bridge. It was busier than I thought, there were lots of people around. And it was incredibly warm!
This morning, I'm just lying in bed, after having skyped mum and dad earlier. I might go to the markets soon.
